Obituary for Charles E Hoffman

Charles E. Hoffman, 82, passed away May 9, 2016 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease at Diversicare Health and Rehabilitation Center in Hutchinson, Kansas. He was born August 7, 1933 in Castleton, Kansas, the son of John Albert and Ruth Freeman Hoffman. He retired from Reno County Abstract Company in 1998.

He was a graduate 1950 graduate of Kingman High School and also graduated from Salt City Business College. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 982, where he not only attained the Pilgramige Degree but served twice as governor. He was a master at crochet, loved camping and fishing, enjoyed anything outdoors with his children and grandchildren, and enjoyed riding motorcycles.

He married Jewell Lorraine DuVall on May 25, 1952 and to that union they had two sons, Arlan Wayne and Chuck (Charles) Allen Hoffman.

Survivors include his wife of the home; son, Arlan and his wife Kim; 3 grandsons, Nick and his wife, Jennifer, Josh and his fiancé, Chrystal Weidner, and, Chris; a half brother, Jerry Don (Caroline); 1 sister, Alberta Schaefer; a half sister Wilda Vansioch; 4 great grandchildren, Dakota and Alexis Hoffman, Zach and Dennis Board; 8 great – great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother Ann Hoffman, stepfather Bill Nunn; half sisters, Wilamena Nunn and Glenda Webb; 1 son, Charles (Chuck) Allen Hoffman.

A gathering for friends and family will be held Saturday, May 21, from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm with a time of remembrance at 11:00 am at Old Mission – Heritage Funeral Home, 528 N. Main, Hutchinson, Kansas. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established and gifts may be made to Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 982, The Wounded Warrior Program, or American Parkinson’s Disease Association and left in care of the funeral home.
