Steven Wayne Graves, 66 of Greenville, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at his home in Greenville, Illinois.

Steven Wayne, the son of Ralph W. and Louise Pappas Graves, was born September 13, 1950 in Hutchinson, Kansas. He grew up in Hutchinson and attended local schools. Steve served our country in the United States Navy. He enlisted on May 13, 1969 and served in Vietnam. He was on the USS Sanctuary Naval Ship. Mr. Graves was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and Vietnam Service Medal with a Bronze Star. He was at the Naval Station in Long Beach, California after his service in Vietnam. Mr. Graves was honorably discharged. Mr. Graves furthered his education and got his real estate assessors license. For the past 20 years, he has lived in Greenville to be near his family.

Steven is survived by a son, Scott Graves, his mother, Louise Graves who resides in Hutchinson, Kansas. Also surviving are his siblings, Gary P. Graves and Mae of Kent, Washington, John Graves of Hutchinson, Kansas, Gloria F. Buck and Thomas J. of Greenville, Illinois, Richard L. Graves and Kendall of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Linda S. Simmons of Hutchinson, Kansas, Amber Tomlin and Tim of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and, Seberina Miller and David of Hutchinson, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Ralph L. Graves, Jr.

A gathering for family and friends will be held Tuesday, June 13, 2017 from 10:30 AM – 1:00 PM at Old Mission – Heritage Funeral Home, 528 N. Main, Hutchinson, Kansas. A celebration of life will follow at 1:00 PM at the funeral home as well. Burial will take place in North Inman Cemetery, Inman, Kansas with military honors.
