Obituary for Florine Iverson

Florine Iverson
Florine (Floyd) Iverson was born on December 1, 1944, at 711 N. Maple Street in Stuttgart, Arkansas. She was the 3rd born to the union of Daniel and Rosie D. Floyd. Florine grew up in Stuttgart and acquired many lifelong friends. She was especially proud to have attended historic Holman in her general education years. She married Willis Iverson, Sr. and they raised ten children together. Florine worked for many years in the nursing field at Stuttgart Memorial Hospital. She also provided private-duty nursing assistance in the Stuttgart community. In 1985, Florine relocated to Hutchinson, Kansas, with her family. She gained several certifications in nursing from Butler County Community College and resumed her career on the frontline of serving others. Before retiring, Florine held the position of Activity Director and Social Services Designee on the Alzheimer’s Unit at Golden Plains Healthcare Center in Hutchinson, Kansas. She loved her residents dearly and it is well known that she held a standard of excellent care for them. She exceeded that standard and expected her co-workers to do the same. She viewed her residents as family and, by example, showed how to care for them as such. At the end of her career, Florine achieved nearly 30 years of dedication to serving those in need of her love and tender care. She was grateful to have “adopted” many children and extended family through her vocation.
Florine professed a love for Jesus Christ at an early age. She was a faithful member of Second Missionary Baptist Church for over 30 years. At the time of her transition to her heavenly home, she served at Second Baptist under the leadership of Reverend Earl Givens, Sr.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents; brothers William Floyd and Orlando Floyd; sisters Earlean Wright and Avis Floyd; and a son-in-law, Leondro Gonzalez. She leaves in God’s sovereign care: ten children: Joyce Patrick of Chicago, Illinois; Debra Hill of Conway, Arkansas; Brenda Iverson of Hutchinson, Kansas; Deana Iverson of Atlanta, Georgia; Willis Iverson, Jr. (Natasha) of Hutchinson, Kansas; Glenda Iverson-Simms ( Walter) of Lyons, Kansas; Trina Jones (Gene) of Wichita, Kansas; Timothy Iverson of Topeka, Kansas; Chywonna Gonzalez of Hutchinson, Kansas; and Tara Iverson-Haynes (Tyzell) of Emporia, Kansas. She also leaves a loving sister Erma J. Harris (John) of Hutchinson, Kansas; a faithful sister-in-law Esther Iverson of Stuttgart, Arkansas; 28 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and special friends. She loved her faithful, four-legged companion, “FiFi,” who was often referred to as “the 11th child.
